K&N valve cover filter?

So what is the deal with this item? Is it a "must have" for a 6 PSI setup? How often should it be changed? Where did y'all order it from (summit racing has it for $8.50+$6.95 s/h)

I installed one w/ my AEM CAI. It is called a breather filter, i paid $10 for it at a local shop.

The valve cover breather filter prevents the blower from sucking oil vapor from the valve cover breather. Oil vapor could otherwise get sucked into the blower and condense. Some guy, don't remember who, said he took his blower off the car and 'poured' oil out of it. Very bad. Actually, the catch-can is a better and cleaner way than the filter to solve this problem, but it's a little more expensive and a little more effort to install. You don't change the filter; I clean mine every couple of months.

I bought a K&N valve cover breather and used for 2 weeks then switched over to TOO's slanted tube setup...the K&N is for sale now if someone wants it

I had my APC Breather Filter on for a few months and It never seemed to get dirty. Is something wrong?

Don't forget that a lot of oil/oil vapor can still get into the blower from the PCV valve hose which vents into the intake just before the blower.

Your best bet is to disconnect both that and the valve cover breather.

If you don't have detonation problems at 6psi, you don't really need to bother with this. It's kind of an anal retentive mod until you're pushing some limits. (Yes, I did this mod! Go ahead and call me anal!)

I'm the guy (or one of them) that drained oil out of my intake runners with the stock PCV setup. With the the open atmosphere catchcan setup the runners were bone dry and shiny. All of that oil being sucked in can't be healthy!
